In Pune, India, we met Ranjit Disale. Ranjit teaches for the most part but, he owns a factory. During our visit with him, he taught us the process of making clothes from scratch. Although it was lengthy, we were all intrigued by the complexity and the depth of something seemingly simple. It begins with weaving. After this step is completed, it is bleached. We were especially surprised about the cotton gin that they still used even though they could use a more advanced technology. We all felt that we learned a lot from this tour, and gained more respect for the textile industry of India.
