This call was answered by an adorable class of sixth graders. We began by questioning each other about our location. After much back and forth, we figured out that they go to a private school in Perth, Australia. Once we discovered the city, we both worked to figure out the specific school they went to. Our entire group was gathered around the screen listening to their accents and their stories. We learned about their favorite sports and pastimes: they include rugby, swimming, and cricket. The wildlife of Australia was also very fascinating to our group. We found out that is quite common to see snakes and kangaroos in their daily life. The sixth graders found it very interesting to hear about the different places we had talked to already. They were all very impressed by the fact that Mrs. Killough had managed to set up the whole thing, and that we were staying up so late. The size difference in our classes was very interesting for both of us, they have only 85 kids in their classes, compared to our 935. We all learned a great deal from talking with these students. This mystery Skype was definitely a favorite for our group! |
