In the call to Lesotho, we talked to people that worked for the TTL (Team Task Leader) and the CDC. They described to us the work that they are doing in Lesotho to improve the rates of HIV/AIDS in Lesotho because they are rank 2 in the world for having the highest rate of HIV?AIDS in their country. They shared with us that on on the reasons that Lesotho has such a high HIV rate is due to the stigma of it. In Lesotho it is very rare for people to seek medical treatment because they go to "witch doctors". But now the Peace Corps have been deploying people to spread the word about HIV and how to get tested and at the very least know their status. They have even hosted soccer tournaments to advocate for HIV testing.
